38 Special is a American Rock Band that was formed by neighborhood friends Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant in 1975. The band's first two albums had a strong southern rock feel that excited fans from around the world. By the early 1980s 38 Special shifted to a more main steam rock style without abandoning its southern rock roots. The change helped 38 Special to produce a string of successful rock and southern rock albums and singles.

38 Special’s breakthrough hit was "Hold On Loosely" in 1981. 38 Special followed with hit songs including "Caught Up In You" and "If I'd Been the One" which both hit #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Album Rock Tracks charts. 38 Special then released "Back Where You Belong" and continued to release a sequence of radio favorites.

The Kentucky Headhunters is an American Country Rock band that was founded in 1968 as Itchy Brother, which comprised brothers Richard Young on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Fred Young on drums along with Greg Martin on lead guitar and vocals, and Anthony Kenney on bass guitar and vocals. The Young brothers and Martin began performing as The Kentucky Headhunters in 1986 adding brothers Ricky Lee Phelps singing lead vocals and playing harmonica and Doug Phelps on bass guitar and backup vocals.

Honor America Celebration at College of the Ozarks!

College of the Ozarks invites the public to attend the 22nd annual Honor America on Sunday, June 26. The event will begin with a picnic at 4:30 p.m. where attendees can purchase barbecue items, followed by a musical entertainment beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a patriotic program and concert at 8 p.m.

“Honor America has become a tradition that people of all ages can enjoy, “said Elizabeth Andrews, College of the Ozarks public relations director. “ Kids can play with tinker toys, make bubbles and much more, while parents and grandparents can enjoy great music, barbecue and relax. Folks who attend will experience an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-fashioned patriotic celebration.”
This year’s event will host a new slate of entertainers. Before the sky lights up with fireworks, the cast from Red, Hot and Blue! will perform American classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s. The Petersen Family Band of Branson will entertain attendees with bluegrass and southern gospel music.

“Patriotism is a main focus at College of the Ozarks, and Honor America is a great way to celebrate that,” said Andrews. “I can’t think of a better way to kick off the Fourth of July holiday than by coming to the College’s beautiful campus to listen to music that encompasses the American spirit and to pay tribute to our nation. So, please join us as we honor America.”

After dark, an elaborate fireworks display will conclude the event. Honor America is free and is open to the public, but do not forget your lawn chairs. Please do not bring alcohol or tobacco products, fireworks or pets onto the College of the Ozarks campus. Joplin Mo Benefit Concert and Telethon in Branson!

Joplin Benefit Concert & Telethon presented by Branson Cares. This benefit concert and live telethon will happen on Sunday June 26, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Mansion Theatre in Branson, to raise funds to help our neighbors in Joplin rebuild after being devastated by an EF5 Tornado.

100% of benefit proceeds go to helping rebuild the St. John’s Mercy Hospital and helping to recreate the Joplin School’s Music Program, both of which were destroyed in this tornado of epic proportion. This unique show brings together on one stage performances by the stars of Branson, MO, the Live Music Capital of the World including Jim Stafford, Liverpool Legends, The Lennon Sisters, Shoji Tabuchi, The Hughes Brothers, The Duttons, The Haygoods, Jim Barber and many others.

Branson Cares Joplin Benefit Telethon tickets are available at The Mansion Theatre in Branson for a minimum donation of at least $50.00. The telethon will receive donations by telephone, texting or online donations.

The live concert and telethon may be viewed on TV stations including Joplin’s KOAM-TV and Fox 14, as well as Mediacom access stations throughout the Midwest, plus RFD-TV and more. The concert telethon is also being broadcast live on various radio stations and on-line via streaming video.

Glen Templeton / The Full Throttle Band Boys and Girls Club Benefit Concert!

Join us for a Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks benefit concert featuring Glen Templeton & The Full Throttle Band and special guest The Fury! For tickets call Black Oak Mountain Amphitheater at 417-779-1222!

Glen Templeton is one of Country Music’s most promising up and coming stars. In 2008 Glen Templeton was hand picked by Conway Twitty’s daughters to portray Conway in the touring musical tribute to their father. They first heard about Glen through Joni Twitty’s husband, John Wesley Ryles. Ryles, a noted studio background vocalist, had worked with Glen on demo projects. “With more than 20,000 hopefuls auditioning for the part, Joni Twitty finally found a powerful voice capable of conveying many of the same qualities Conway had”. “One of he biggest thrills of my life was performing the inaugural show of the musical,” explains Templeton. We were still waiting for my wardrobe to be finished for the tour and I actually got to wear some of Conway’s old suits. I wore these custom wigs they made for me out in LA. I was singing his songs and hearing people react to them the way they must have reacted to him. In a way, it was like getting a chance to literally walk in the shoes of one of my musical heroes.”

Glen Templeton toured the circuit playing to several thousand people each weekend for his own shows and was the opening act for a number of top names in country music. Never forgetting his old school country roots, Glen cites the shows he performed on tour with George Jones in early 2009 as some of his favorites. He has also appeared on CMT, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman, and a long list of regional performance venues.

Special guest The Fury will also perform at the Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks benefit concert! The Fury is a hard rock band based in Phoenix, AZ. They have been together for almost three years and have played several shows around the valley. The Fury are Jimmy Matteucci (Guitar and Vocals), Patrick Boyle (Drums), Jeff Little (Guitar), and Eric Thorn (Bass and Vocals).

With the harmonically pleasing progressions and blistering leads The Fury’s sound became known for its guitar driven punch. Shortly after their debut, audiences realized there was much more to The Fury when Pat’s indescribable and incomparable drum solos became a staple at The Fury’s live shows. The Fury incorporated two main vocalists, Jimmy and Eric, whose different timbers and approach added melodic variety and a broader scope of musical genres. By following the sounds of classic rock artists, The Fury tastefully brought a harder sound to the enduring styles of old. Over the past years, The Fury has continued to write and perform their music throughout Phoenix, constantly growing and adding a certain maturity to their sound.
