Branson Old Time Fiddle Contest in Downtown Branson Mo! The Ozark Mountain area is well known for traditional Ozarks style music. More famous is the Ozark's fiddler playing tunes that make everyone's feet tap to the beat of the fiddle's rhythm. Now you can join in on the festive fiddlin' fun here in Branson Missouri at the Branson Landing as the Downtown Branson Main Street Association presents the 25th Annual Old Time Fiddle Contest on Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4, 2013. This nationally recognized event includes a FREE Jam Session and Gambler’s Draw on Saturday night, August 3, 6-9 p.m. brought to you by Titanic Museum Attraction. The 25th Branson Fiddle Festival will feature food, demonstrations, strolling entertainers, workshops, and sidewalk sales. Nationally known judges have the tough job of deciding who will win $7,000 in cash prizes. The Fiddling competition will be in the “Ozarks Music & Culture Tent” in Historic Downtown behind Dick’s 5 & 10. Prelims are Saturday, August 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Finals will be Sunday, August 4, Noon to 5 p.m. There is NO entry fee to contestants. Pre-registration is greatly appreciated. Fiddle contestants will receive reimbursement of festival admission at time of their registration into the competition. Daily tickets are $3.00. Tickets for children 4-12 are $1.50. Children 3 and younger get in free. Workshops will be in a private conference room Friday August 2. Pre-registration for workshops is strongly suggested. Saturday Night’s FREE Jam Session and Gamblers Draw Competition August 3, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. brought to you by Titanic Museum Attraction in the “Ozarks Music & Culture Tent.” There is a $5 entry fee to participate in the Gambler’s Draw. Song titles are placed in a hat. Fiddlers competing draw one of the titles out of the hat and are required to play that song. If they can’t play the song, they are eliminated from the competition. The last fiddler standing will be the winner and will receive all of the entry fee money that was placed in the hat. The Jam Session will continue after the Gambler’s Draw. The Old Time Fiddle Contest events start at 10:00 a.m on Saturday and noon on Sunday! The Fiddle Festival contest stage will be in a large tent that will be set up in Awbery Parking Lot.
