With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries. For every U.S. soldier killed in World Wars I and II, there were 1.7 soldiers wounded. In Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, for every U.S. soldier killed, seven are wounded. DETAILS: Explore Space is pleased to announce that they will be presenting a tribute to Gus Grissom, a veteran of WWII,
the Korean War and astronaut for the Mercury and Apollo missions. Gus was one of the original seven astronauts who flew
the early Mercury missions and was later slated to command the Apollo One mission. Tragedy struck the Apollo One mission
when a flash fire engulfed the command module, killing Gus, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. This tribute will be hosted by
Lowell Grissom, brother of Gus Grissom. Mr. Grissom has spoken nationally about his famous brother, and the space
program, and has appeared in the Discovery Channel Documentaries, "WHEN WE LEFT EARTH: The NASA Missions,"
and "Liberty Bell 7, The Lost Spacecraft." He also appears in the Purdue video, "BOILERMAKERS-Gus Grissom
All veterans will receive discount pricing ($6) on admission Explore Space. Veterans who buy admission to the museum
