Ozarks Spring Fiddle Convention!

The Ozark Fiddler’s Spring Convention is primarily a big Bluegrass jam session beginning on Thursday, May 19 and runs through Saturday May 21 at various locations at the Compton Ridge Campground just minutes from Branson, Mo. In case of bad weather many rooms and tents are available plus a large convention room are available for jam sessions.

The State of the Ozarks Fiddlers Convention was originally held at the Bob Walsh farm at Cape Fair, Missouri. Because of its popularity and growth and the need for more and better facilities, Bob moved it to Compton Ridge Campground just outside the town of Branson, Missouri where the event is held twice a year. Even though Bob is no longer with us, the fiddler's convention continues to be held the way he wanted.

We would like for fiddlers to register on Saturday, May 21 at the Gathering Place Convention Hall. Saturday we will have registered fiddlers in competition playing 3 tunes each on stage at the auditorium in the Gathering Place. Fiddling only, no other entertainment will be provided on the stage that day. Singing and other entertaining jam sessions will be continuous all over the Fiddle Convention site. Awards for the oldest, youngest, most improved and farthest traveled fiddlers performing on stage will be given. Also the Jam Fiddler Award will be given to the most outstanding all around jam fiddler on the site.

For your convenience we will have a concession stand in the Gathering Place serving lunch and supper. We will have a fish fry Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. and a Pig Roast with all the trimmings Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. Fish Fry and Pig Roast tickets will be available at the office and the Gathering Place.

Visitors in the Branson area are invited to come and listen to the best bluegrass and traditional fiddling in the world performed by the top fiddlers and musicians from around the country. Admission is free! Free parking is available in the first parking lot to on the left at the entrance of the campground located on highway 248 across from The Wilderness Campground. If you don't have a campsite reserved please park in this lot. No overnight parking in parking lots will be permitted. No alcoholic beverages allowed.
