Branson Old Time Fiddle Contest At Branson Landing!

The Ozark Mountain area is well known for traditional Ozarks style music. More famous is the Ozark's fiddler playing tunes that make everyone's feet tap to the beat of the fiddle's rhythm. Now you can join in on the festive fiddlin' fun here in Branson at the Branson Landing as the Downtown Branson Main Street Association presents the 23rd Annual Old Time Fiddle Contest on Saturday, August 26th. There is no charge to contend in the championship fiddling contest, but for a daily seat to enjoy the event is $3 per adult, $2 for a child under 12 and toddlers 3 years and younger are free. Tickets for the Friday and Saturday night dances are $5 per adult and $2.50 for a child.

On Aug. 28, Sunday, the festival offers a Gospel Celebration hosted by Bob Hubbard, founding member of The Jordanaires and The Foggy River Boys. Matt’s Family Jam -- which consists of mom, dad and kids -- will be special music guests for the Gospel segment.

The Old Time Fiddle Contest events start at 6:30 PM on Friday and Saturday and noon on Sunday! There will be two stages for the event. One will feature workshops, Branson entertainers and the dance bands. The Fiddle Festival contest stage will be in a large tent that will be set up in Awbery Parking Lot. For more information about the Old Time Fiddle Contest and workshops call 417-334-1548 or visit www.downtownbranson.org for more details.

Mary McDonough, who played Erin on the Waltons TV series, will be a special guest at the Fiddle Festival. McDonough said her new book “LESSONS FROM THE MOUNTAIN” is a perfect fit for the Fiddle Festival because the show was based in America and has even new fans throughout the Midwest.

Music fans and participants get to enjoy the Fiddle Festival, they will also get to shop at sidewalk sales where downtown merchants will offer discounts during the event, which also features pony rides and a food court. The Honky Tonk Renovators will deliver music for the Friday night street dance while the Liz Amos Band provides square dance tunes Saturday night.
